Do you listen to a lot of music in your home? We do and we love it! I have always been a music lover and have quite a large collection of music. I was a music minor in college and have studied and performed music all of my life. I am always trying to expose my kids to many kids of great music. Music can really set a mood in your home! My kids always love it when i turn on music just for them. Kid’s music can either be really terrible or really great, so sometimes I don’t really want to listen to their choices.
There are many different categories of music and the type of music you listen to can determine the feeling in your home. If you listen to a lot of classical music, it typically sets a calmer scene. If you are more of a rock/pop music listener, the feeling will be louder and busier. I feel like there is a time and a place for different styles of music.
Since there is music in our home lots of the time, I tend to vary the types by what sort of meed we need at the time. We listen to classical music a lot as we are studying different composers. On Sundays, I like to set a calmer mood and listen to softer songs to prepare them for church. We listen to pop songs that I decide are appropriate for my kids; most these days are not. We also have a large collection of children’s music albums that we listen to regularly. The kids love turning on their favorite tunes as they clean to keep them motivated!
One of my favorite ways to share music with my kids is to turn on fun music and dance around with them. We have a lot of favorites! We have created some favorite Pandora stations that we love to play. We also have a brand new favorite kid’s music album that we have been listening to a ton by Bobs & LoLo called Dirty Feet. We are REALLY loving this CD. The theme is all about outdoor play and it has really encouraged my son to want to run and play outside more this summer. He listens to it and says things like: “I want to go play in the mud! and Can we go watch the shapes in the clouds?” I absolutely love the lyrics and the tunes to theses songs. They are catchy & get everyone up and moving all around the room! Plus, anything that encourages outdoor play is a huge bonus in my book.
The album name: Dirty Feet is so cute! Since playing in the mud is one of my son’s favorite things to do anyways, we made sure to let him make mud and get his feet nice and dirty after listening to this album!
Often children’s music can get a little annoying, but these songs are ones that even parents can enjoy. They are catchy and fun and the voices are really nice!
Dirty Feet is brand new and was just release July 31st. You can buy physical copies or download it digitally. They are on tour across North America right now, too. You can find out more about that on their Facebook page.
