Educational TV Shows for Kids

I love TV shows that teach my kids something. There are many days as parents and especially as homeschoolers, when you need a little bit of a break. The television can be really helpful on those days. (Does that make me sound like a bad parent?) We do not watch very much TV in our house, but when my kids watch I want them to watch high quality shows. There are some really great educational TV shows out that kids love watching. I made a great big list of them for you. I know there are more, so feel free to share others that I have left off this list in the comments.
Before we get to the big list of educational TV shows for kids, I want to share a great educational DVD for kids. I was given another one of the Rock ‘N Learn DVDs to watch with my kids and it has been a really fun one. This time Rock ‘N Learn sent me the Learn a Language DVD to try out. (I was sent a copy of this DVD for free in exchange for a review on my site).
On the Learn a Language movie, you can practice vocabulary and counting in your own language, or switch it to 5 other languages to learn the same vocabulary in that language. It has options to watch the movie in Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, German and of course English with or without subtitles. They teach colors, toys, clothes, counting to 10 and furniture. The DVD, like all of the other Rock ‘N Learn movies has fun characters and colorful animations. At the main menu, you choose the language your kids want to learn- which audio and which subtitles. You can mix and match them.
The Learn a Language movie is a really incredible thing that they have created!! Â This could be used for kids learning English, or any of the other languages as well. My kids think it is so cool to watch and they have watched it many times in the different languages. It is a fun way to expose your kids to many different languages.

Now for the big list… Â These are all shows that my kids have enjoyed watching, and that I don’t mind having them watch. It is great when it entertains as well as educates!
