Geography Songs Review & Giveaway

We LOVE music in our house. I was a music minor in college and love to sing all the time. My kids have also gained a love of music and are excited to use it in school.  I really enjoy finding music that teaches me kids. I have heard countless times that music aids in learning. I discovered a wonderful site that sells some great educational music called Kathy Troxel -Audio Memory. It is a family run business and she even homeschooled her kids!  I have seen great reviews of her CD’s online.  They have a lot of CD’s with songs for learning all the different subjects. There are ones on history, grammar, math, Bible, geography, and more.  They also have some on DVD, too! I contacted Kathy about doing a review of her Geography Songs set. She very kindly said yes- and offered another set for a giveaway, too! I was thrilled! See below for the giveaway details.

When we got the Geography songs, I was excited to see the book and large map (25″ x 36″) that came with it. The set for all three items (book, CD, map) is $22.95. The book has all of the song lyrics as well as pictures and maps to go along with each song. It is in black and white, so it can also be used as a coloring book for your kids.  The map is also in black and white so kids can color it as they learn and listen.

The CD has 33 songs. Each song is about a different area of the world. The songs are really catchy and I find myself and my kids singing them around the house all the time!  We have been taking the CD in the car with us to listen to as we drive around town.  I had my son get a little video of my daughter singing along with the book in the car.

  1. We love music but are just starting to utilize it for learning purposes. My daughter was really struggling to learn the months of the year but I found a song for her that really cemented the order. We would love to win this as we are planning to start “Expedition Earth” this summer and the cd is recommended in the curriculum.

  2. Ooo! I just did a whole posts about learning through music! My favorite right now are the Veritas Press history songs. Ive had my eye on these geography songs for a while and would love to win!

  3. I am so excited about this book. We are going to be working on Geography next year. I had a plan to take the kids around the world . This would be a great addition to our study. Songs always help the kids learn things faster. 🙂

  4. I’ve been using songs from YouTube to reinforce our Spanish lessons, which is great. I don’t know a ton of learning songs yet since we’re just in Kindergarten now, but I also make up my own songs to familiar tunes when I think it will help (that’s how my daughter learned the days of the week). Singing makes learning stick for her (and me)!

  5. We love listening to different state capital songs. One of our favorites is by musical stew. This looks like it would go great with our studies!
