Kids Books Made into Movies

Looking for kids books made into movies? You’re one to the right place! This makes an awesome family movie night list as well.
We LOVE books over here. You would probably be shocked at the amount of books in our house. But we read them… Â Another thing we really enjoy is watching a great movie. There are so many classic kid books that have been made into movies and today I have a big list of them for you.
One thing we love to do is to read a book, and then watch the movie that it was made into. Â I like to make it a reward for the family when we finish a book.
We have not read all of these, but now I really want to! Â There were some that I didn’t know were books first. It seems that most of the great classic movies came from some great classic books first. Â In our house we are usually book fans first. Â Which do you prefer, the books or the movies? Â How about both? Â
Here are a few ways to make books and movies into a lesson for your homeschool:
- Read the book and make it into a unit study.
- Learn the history surrounding the story.
- Learn about the author and/or producer.
- Use books/movies to learn vocabulary or spelling.
- Use favorite passages or quotes from the books for copywork.
- Write a book and movie comparison (or have a discussion for younger kids).
- Have a story themed family movie night party.

What did you think about this list? Â Which one is your favorite?
I love books! I hope my youngest loves them as much as I do. Thanks for the list of books.
Love this! Thank you! Will definitely be pinning this one.
Thanks for this list – I’m always looking for movies for my family – and though we are an almost grown-up family we still enjoy a movie that has a good story. I think we’d enjoy many of these, some of which we’ve enjoyed as books. Thanks again.
I love this list. We are always looking for good movies for us to share on Family Movie Night and you just gave me a shoe bunch of ideas. Much appreciated!
I didn’t realize how many of those movies were based on books. Seeing as books are always so much better, I have got to get a hold of some of those books. However, this list will be great to help us pick different movies as we make our way through the alphabet on our Movie and Popcorn night. We are on our second time through this year and are back to the letter K.
Thanks for sharing
What a fun idea! Thanks for sharing.
