Preschool Worksheets and Letter A Activities

This post may contain affiliate links.

I have a little 3-year old who is starting to learn his letters. He wants to do school just like the big kids, however he really does not have a very long attention span. What I have been doing with him is a letter of the week structure. I created some preschool worksheets for each letter of the week starting with the letter A today!

See how to download at the bottom of the post. (Find all of the alphabet preschool worksheets HERE.)

I used Duct tape to make a giant A on the carpet. The letter can be used to walk on, trace with his hand, plays on it, drives his cars on and just be a reminder him of the letter throughout the day. I left it there for a few days and I think it really helped him remember the letter!

We had a letter A snack with Ants on Apples. I did a little variation of the Ants on a log snack and we were talked about what letter apples start with.

We made an Alligator A craft out of a capital letter A. The printable pack has a large letter template to help you make this or another A craft.

We also pulled out our homemade alphabet mat to play with! This is always a favorite at our house!

We made our Letter A book together with all of the printable letter A activities in my pack! (This is with my next younger child!)

And of course we can’t forget story time. That is essential! Here are the Alphabet Books we read:

The A Book
The Ants Go Marching
The Letters are Lost
Dr Seuss ABC’s
Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom
Now I Eat my ABC’s
Sleepy Little Alphabet
Alphabet Adventure
The Alphabet Tree

LMNO Peas

For music we use our Wee Sing Children’s Songs and Fingerplays CD. It has lots of great classics and my little ones have always loved it!

He is my busiest little one yet, but we have been having fun learning together for short little bursts of time. 🙂
