Family Thankful Jar Craft

Are you looking for a fun and simple Thanksgiving craft for your family? Try out this Thankful Jar!
At the beginning of November, I always like to do something to help my family think of all the things we are thankful for. Gratitude is an important quality to help kids develop! (See also my Gratitude Game and my Gratitude Journal!)
Last year we had a thankful wall. I used a big sheet of butcher paper and as we thought of things we wrote on it what we were thankful for throughout the month.
This year we did a family “Thankful Jar”.
How to Make the Thankful Jar:
For this thankful jar project, you’ll need some construction paper, a jar, and some tape! Â That’s it!
We decorated the jar by wrapping the whole thing in a piece of construction paper cut to fit.
Use fall colors and a few paper leaves. Then we cut a whole bunch more leaf-shaped pieces of paper to write out things on.
Each morning, as we eat breakfast together, we all write one thing for which we are thankful and put it into the thankful jar. Sometimes the things my kids write really make me smile (care bear pajamas). I like to read it all with them at Thanksgiving, or sometime at the end of the month.
Take some time to think of what you are most thankful for. It is always a wonderful reminder to know how much the Lord has blessed you.

That is fun! We are doing a Thankful Tree. We add a tree to our branch every day with something we’re thankful for – can’t wait to see it on Thanksgiving when it is FULL of pretty leaves!!!

What a wonderful idea. Helps put everything in perspective and can provide great motivating projects later.
