I did a simple edible Math lesson with my son when he was five. He was learning ordinal numbers, so I lined up ten small crackers (a kind he really liked) on the table in front of him. I then told him to “Eat the second cracker.” He ate it and I immediately replaced it with another cracker. I continued the same way, randomly telling him to eat other crackers (fourth, tenth, first, etc) and replacing each one afterward. He really enjoyed it and it helped him practice his ordinal numbers. This could, of course, be done with any small food – goldfish crackers, M&Ms, blueberries, etc. And I guess it could qualify as a snack as well as a lesson!
