Aesop’s Fables Printable Books

Aesop’s Fables are such a wonderful set of classic stories to read to kids. I love reading them with my kids and then discussing the morals of each little fable. In order to make them more understandable and fun for my preschooler, I decided to make a set of mini printable Aesop’s Fables books. Â (See more of my book activities for kids.)
We have the book Aesop for Children, illustrated by Milo Winter. It is a lovely hardcover book with nice old fashioned illustrations that I adore. I have read these fables with my kids a few times and we always love them. Â However, I often feel like they are a bit over the heads of my younger children, so these mini books are a clever way to help them learn some of the more common of Aesop’s fables.
About the Aesop’s Fables Printable Mini Books
My printable set includes 10 popular Aesop’s fables. Â Included are the following fables:
- The Dog and His Reflection
- Belling the Cat
- The Goose with the Golden Eggs
- The Tortoise and the Hare
- Town Mouse, Country Mouse
- The Ant and the Grasshopper
- The Lion and the Mouse
- The Fisherman and the Little Fish
- The Boy Who Cried Wolf
- The Wind and the Sun
Each mini book is six pages long. I have summarized the fables into simpler terms for young children. Each book has the moral of the fable on the last page so you can discuss it with your kids.
I made all of the books in color and in black and white. So if you need to save color ink, I have you back! Or, if you want to give your kids the option to color them in, that is a lot of fun, too!
My daughter was so thrilled with these little books. I read her all of them in one sitting, then she promptly told me she wanted me to make even more of them!  I may do some fairy tale ones next. 🙂  Now she looks through the books and can re-tell the stories on her own. It’s the cutest.
