Today I am participating in the Booking Across the USA book project hosted by Growing Book By Book. I participated last year for the state of Utah- which is where we live. This year I chose to do Nevada since it is our neighboring state and we have visited it several times. I have some fun Nevada learning resources to share with you!
For the Booking Across the USA posts this year, there were bloggers participating from all across the country. Each one is focusing on a different state. We all were lucky enough to receive a fun book from the Travels With Charlie series this year for our posts. You will be able to enter to win the whole series of books at the end of the post. There are 4 books in this series: Way out West (the one I received), Travelin’ the Northeast, Down South, and Across the Midwest. They are search & Find geography books and were written by Miles Backer. They are fun books with a page for each state in the region. It has landmarks and facts about the states to find on each one. What a fun way to learn about the different states in this country!
Since we got the West book, I thought it would be fun to talk about cowboys, a famous part of the history of the West. My little kids love horses and have had fun riding them recently at the petting zoo. So, we made a stick horse from a pool noodle to let them ride their own horse at home!
I loved making this with my kids. It was so easy to put together. I found this idea and the instructions over on the blog Mrs. King Rocks.
Want some other fun Nevada Learning Resources? We have started learning about the United States recently in our homeschool and plan on spending a whole year on our country, so I decided to share with you some of the great learning resources I have found for learning about all of the states.
