Pattern blocks are one of my favorite teaching tools for young kids. We have loved them for many years around here. I decided to start bringing you some pattern templates to use with your kids!  Since it’s December, today I have a set of Christmas Pattern Block Templates!

Why Pattern Blocks are Good for Teaching

There are many benefits of using pattern blocks in your teaching. They teach kids how to identify patterns. But they also teach shapes, fractions, angles, and symmetry.   The pattern block sets are all related to each other is size, so kids can learn to construct shapes.

Learning patterns helps kids to understand relationships and make predictions. They help prepare kids for more advanced math skills. But also, they are just tons of fun!

Don’t have any pattern blocks yet?  You can get them HERE. There are plastic ones and wooden ones.

This printable set of Christmas Pattern Blocks is 30 pages long. It includes:

  • 2 Styles of Trees
  • 2 Styles of Ornaments
  • Reindeer
  • Bell
  • Santa Claus
  • Santa Hat
  • Snowflake
  • Holly Berries

For each image the pattern is included in color, in black and white and as just a basic outline. The basic outline is a more advanced way to do these pattern block puzzles. Older kids can be challenged to fill the shape without knowing which pieces to use.

If you want your pattern mats to last longer,  I HIGHLY recommend printing them on cardstock and then laminating them.  You can get a very inexpensive laminator on Amazon. They are worth the money!
