Are you a reader?  I love, Love, LOVE to read. When I am engrossed in a good book, I basically tune out to the world.  I got lucky enough to have the chance to review a fun book this month called The Selection by Kiera Cass. It is a great clean read book for teens, and all the moms will love it, too!  The Selection is a Young Adult “dystopian” romance which is an imaginary world that is considered anti-utopia.

I have to tell you that I got completely lost in this book. I am a total sucker for Young Adult literature.  I spend a lot of time reading non-fiction these days, so when I get to read a fun, light read, I get really into it.

The Selection series is a story of a 35 girls who get chosen to compete to be the bride of prince Maxon, the heir of the kingdom. They come from all walks of life and are excited to have the chance to live in the palace during the competition. The country is divided into a caste system where the people

The book is fun and light-hearted. Unlike many of the other dystopian fiction, it is not intense and terribly violent. Also, the romance is kept very clean. I would definitely recommend for any teen girls and their moms. As soon as I finished it, I was at my library getting the next two in the series (The Elite & The One) right away!  I finished all three of the books in the series in a matter of days. I was thrilled to learn that a fourth one is coming out soon, called The Heir!  It is launching May 5th.

  1. I just read another review that said this series has some super hot and steamy near sex make out sessions…now I’m not sure what to think!

    1. please dont ever read A Court of thorns and roses or the throne of glass series by Sarah j Maas then because there is alot of steamy scenes in there

    2. Yeah it’s true. There were some make out sessions at many different points of the series and the talk of sex, though never directly said, was mentioned several times as well. Overall they’re amazing books but I wouldn’t recommend them for anyone under 13. I read them for the first time at 14 and have read them several times since then.
