Easter Egg Jellyfish Craft

Do you have any plastic eggs floating around your house leftover from Easter?  We definitely do, so I wanted to make a fun little craft with them.  This week, we made an easter egg jellyfish craft with our leftover eggs!  This was so fun, but a bit messy, so be prepared for that…

Easter Egg Jellyfish from Teach Beside Me

To make this cute little jellyfish craft you need plastic easter egg halves.  Use the side that has the holes in the bottom.   You will also need some string, colored paper, newspaper and glue.  We did it like paper mache where you dip the paper into the glue, then wrap it around the plastic egg.

Choose your papers~ we used blues and greens to make it look ocean-like. Then cut the paper into skinny strips. For the tentacles, we glued pieces of paper onto a piece of newspaper, then cut the strips. These ones will need to be a bit longer. This gave it the double-sided newspaper look.

Before you start gluing, thread your string through the two holes leaving a loop on the inside of the egg.  Dip your paper strips into the glue and wrap them around the egg covering both the inside and outside. Make sure to go around the string loop on the inside so you can use it later.

Once it is wrapped all the way, use your longer newspaper-backed strips and thread them through the loop on the inside of the egg. Pull the string up tight. This will secure them in place. Curl them a little with your fingers to make them look a little wiggly.

Isn’t he a cutie??  With the string on top, it could also be used to make an ornament!
