Did you know that March is Women’s History month? In honor of that, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite books with strong female characters.
If you have spent any time time at all on my site, you know that I am quite the book lover! Â I really love books with strong female characters because it empowers and inspires me to be more. I also love to read stories of amazing women and learn from them.
These books are also an amazing way to help your daughters know their value, worth and strength. Â Women often are overlooked or thought of as less strong than men. Â While physically they may often be, mentally and emotionally women really have incredible strength and abilities to accomplish such hard things in their lives.
Book with Strong Female Characters:
The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom- a true story of a holocaust survivor.
Heidi by Johanna Spyri- such a lovely story of an orphan girl overcoming hard trials!
The Rent Collector by Camron Wright- an incredible story of resilience despite extreme poverty
A Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton-Porter- one of my favorites about a girl who wants to become educated and works hard to learn and fit in
Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery- we all know this well-loved story. Anne is as strong and fierce as they come!
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott- The women in this book are so fun to follow and learn alongside!
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
These is My Words by Nancy Turner- a strong woman forging a life for herself in the frontier
The Help by Kathryn Stockett- a black maid in the 1960’s learning to stand up for herself and her people
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins- Katniss fighting for her life and that of her people
Kabul Beauty School by Deborah Rodriguez- story of women learning their worth in Afghanistan

I have read and agree with the above, except the Rent Collector and Limberlost (haven’t read them yet). So I will add “The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency” series by Alexander McCall Smith, and the “Amelia Peabody” series by the late, great Elizabeth Peters.
Forgot those-I have read the first and loved it!
