I love food! I love cooking, and I love collecting recipes to try. I collect recipes like it’s my job or something. I am embarrassed to let anyone see my stacks of magazine clippings and files of recipes. But, today you might just get a peek…
I have files that I sort them in. Once I make a recipe and like it, it gets upgraded into my file box that I use regularly.
If I don’t like it, it gets tossed.
I grew up learning to cook from a Mom who was amazing in the kitchen. She did everything homemade. The rolls, the pies, the soups, the breads, the cookies… all of it was always homemade. I think mostly she did it because she was raising 8 kids and it was cheaper this way, and healthier. The funny thing is my grandma (my Mom’s Mom) can’t cook ANYTHING!! My mom learned to cook from her mother-in-law (My Dad’s Mom) who was literally a gourmet chef. What a great teacher she was to my mom! I am lucky enough to have her recipes.
I always loved helping my Mom in the kitchen and to this day still really enjoy baking & cooking new things. I went college and studied Home Economic Education. I became a home-economics teacher- teaching mostly foods/nutrition classes, but also interior design, sewing, preschool & life skills. I loved it, but decided to stay home with my babies when they came along.
Many years ago I started a Food Blog called: Things That Make You Say: “Mmmmm!” It started mostly because I wanted to put all of our family recipes online in one place. I always had people calling and asking for this or that recipe. It simplified my life because it is now all on the blog. When someone in my family makes one of our family recipes that I have failed to put on the blog, they always let me know! I love it, though!
All that being said… you now understand a little more about me. I decided to share a round-up of some of my favorite dessert recipes- I have an INSANE sweet tooth and really, passionately love good desserts. So… here are some yummy ones (linked from my cooking blog).
Homemade Eclairs– worth all the work.
Try not to drool on your keyboard.

Too late – drooling all over the place. Wowzers! I didn’t have home ec or a kitchen guru for a mother- I’ll have a bit of a learning curve here, but I’m totally game!

I think that cooking tends to skip a generation because sometimes the generation below the cook just ate OR the generation that was a bad cook generated a cook because of it.
