A little while back I shared that I wrote a chapter on homeschooling with games in the e-book the Big Book of Homeschooling Ideas (a 560+ page e-book covering every homeschooling topic you would ever need).

Today I want to tell you about a great homeschooling book book and some details about the chapter I wrote. I also have a fun free printable math bingo game for you today!

Homeschooling With Games- Math Bingo

My chapter in the Big Book of Homeschool Ideas is about Homeschooling with Games. I love using hands-on games and activities in or homeschool because I know the benefits of hands-on learning.

I studied education in college and was actually a teacher for a while before choosing to homeschool my kids. I studied a lot of early childhood education in college and have continued to read and study that topic as a homeschool parent.

One of the things I have learned and witnessed to be so important in education is experiential learning- which means learning with all of the senses. The more of the five senses you involve, the more it is retained in your memory. This is why I love using games for teaching.  This Math Bingo game will be a great addition to your teaching!

Hands-on learning is a great way to really make ideas stick in our brains. Kids love learning in this way and I enjoy teaching this way. My kids always seem to remember things more when I get them busy and do a project or play a game. Plus, learning is so much more interesting when it is done in this way!

In the book I shared the history of some of the great minds and how they used hands-on learning, some of the research behind the benefits, some ideas for making learning more interactive, some game ideas and some homemade supplies you can use to make learning more hands-on as well as some great educational board games available on the market. I hope you will purchase a copy to read more about it, as well as all of the other great ideas shared!
