All About Outer Space

Each month I participate in the Poppins Book Nook~ A virtual book club with a whole bunch of fun bloggers who share themed book and craft ideas. This month our theme is Beyond Our Planet. I was really excited for this theme because I have a favorite space book that I have been wanting to incorporate into a fun post idea called Me and My Place in Space by Joan Sweeney.  (I love this series of books.)

Space learning fun for kids

This month we were lucky to receive a free trial of a new monthly subscription kit called Space Scouts. This kit was perfect to tie into our Space-related activities! Each month they send different activities teaching kids about Space: planets, constellations, and more. They have hands-on learning activities, constellations learning cards, stickers, puzzles, magnets, and toys. The starter kit came with a metal box to store everything in. There are two fun characters named Roxy and Jett that guide kids through the space adventure. Each kit builds on the previous one adding new things to learn and explore. It is a great subscription kit for kids passionate about science or space like mine are. Space Scouts is for kids ages 6+.  Price is affordable at $11.95 per month + $3 shipping.  There are discounts for multi-month purchases.

We have always loved studying about space and have enjoyed some fun activities in the past.  My kids really had fun with this Space Scouts kit and would really enjoy it if we continue with the membership!! Pictured above are all the things that came with our kit. What i liked was that there were activities for all of my kids. My littlest one really liked the toys that came with it. My older two kids liked the stickers and the activity sheets.

There was a little Wikki Stix kit that came with it, too. my kids have always wanted them, so it was a fun chance for them to try these out. They had a rocket picture to make with the Wikki Stix.

We all had a lot of fun with the constellation cards. They have holes punched in them and they suggested to take them in a dark room and shine a flashlight through it onto a wall to see the constellation. My kids LOVED this activity!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  1. We love learning about space. Our favorite activities are looking at constellations and watching the NASA weather satellite when it passes through our area.

  2. The constellation cards are fantastic! This makes for a fun way to work on fine motor skills!
Thank you for helping to bring a spoonful of reading fun to the Poppins Book Nook this month!
