When my kids watch television, I like to help them choose shows that are educational as well as entertaining. When I come across shows like this, I am less worried about the content and knowing that they are gaining some knowledge as they watch. I was contacted to review a new TV show called Space Racers. Space Racers is a fun yet educational animated TV show for young kids that teaches about space! The show is about some young spaceship cadets who attend the Stardust Bay Space Academy and are exploring the Solar System. The show teaches kids about observation, scientific investigation, working as a team, as well as space exploration!
If you visit the Parents and Educators section of the site, Space Racers comes with a whole curriculum guide for parents and educators to help teach kids more about the concepts they learn from watching the shows. They have done such a fabulous job in creating educational content for kids.
The series of lesson plans teaches about planets, the phases of the moon, how planets revolve around the sun, airplane flying moves, science experiments, teamwork, shapes, craters, and more. There are printable materials included with many of the lessons as well.
My kids loved the moon phase flip book and we had lots of fun playing the planet matching game together. My preschooler is still learning the names of the planets, so we played with the planet cards and learned the order of the planets from the sun.
We received a disc of 13 episodes and other show segments along with another disc that contains all of the lesson plans and family activities to go along with the show. It is a great resource to have and my kids have been really enjoying watching and studying about space along with the Space Racers! I get to give away a copy of this 2-disc set to one of my readers!
