The Schoolhouse Review Crew was recently given a wonderful resource from Dayspring Christian Academy. Dayspring Christian Academy is a “Principle Approach” school located in Mountville, PA. The Principle Approach model is one based on biblical principles with the purpose of restoring America to her heritage.
Recently, Dayspring started on online class called The Pilgrim Story. It is almost Thanksgiving time, so this couldn’t have come into our lives at a better time! This class is for grades 3-6 and is a self-paced, interactive course. It’s goal is to teach students the true history of the pilgrims from original sources. The course also teaches the importance of Christian character and biblical principles such as self governance, hard work, perseverance, liberty of conscience. Since it is all online, it can be done at your own pace during a 6 month time period.
Each lesson comes with many interactive resources and activities such as: downloadable notes sheets, vocab words, map work, crafts, recipes, book recommendations, application to your own lives, and more. The lessons take between 30 and 45 minutes to complete. They are set up as interactive slides with a speaker teaching the different lessons. The slides have wonderful graphics and clickable images leading to other slides and information. The lessons begin with a reminder to print the worksheets and check the available resources. You can keep a notebook of all of the pages to help you remember the vocabulary, and quotes from the lessons.
Disclaimer: I received a free 6-month subscriptin to The Pilgrim Story in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any other way.
