This is the Feast -Thanksgiving Story Sticks

If you are looking for a great Thanksgiving book for your kids, This is the Feast by Diane Z. Shore and illustrated by Megan Lloyd is one of my favorite Thanksgiving books to read with my children. I love the beautiful illustrations. It tells the traditional  story of the pilgrims arriving in the new land and celebrating their first Thanksgiving dinner with the American Indians. The story is told in rhyming poetry form and is almost singsongy. It is a longer picture book, so it is better suited for kids who can sit through lengthier stories.
Since we love reading this story, I thought it would be fun to make some story sticks to use to tell the story. I can read it while my kids find the corresponding pictures that go along with the story. There are pictures for most of the pages- a few of the sticks repeat multiple times to make it easier to use for younger kids. This could be a fun activity in a school setting, in a preschool, or at home with your family. It is a great way to teach kids the traditional Thanksgiving story! I hope this is something you and your family can enjoy, too!  You can print your own copy by following the link below. Then cut them out & tape on popsicle sticks to the back of each picture.
We even turned ours into a puppet show- the book makes a great script for it!
