Why I Started This Site

I’m a former public school teacher turned homeschool mom of over 16 years. Teaching has always been my passion, but when my oldest was ready for school, I felt a strong pull to keep him home and teach him myself. It was both exciting and intimidating—I quickly learned that teaching my own kids could be even harder than teaching a classroom full of students!

I dove back into my college child development books, studied everything I could about education and homeschooling, and began experimenting with ways to make learning stick. What I discovered is this: kids learn best when they’re engaged, curious, and having fun. That’s when real learning comes alive.

My Mission

Now, through Teach Beside Me, I share the activities, ideas, and lessons that have worked for my own kids (and for countless teachers and parents who use them). My mission is to help you ignite a love of learning in your children or students—without spending hours of prep time.
