Combine math and art with these hands-on Symmetrical Pattern Coloring Cards!

This printable activity set helps kids explore lines of symmetry, reflection, patterns, and spatial reasoning as they complete colorful symmetrical designs and match symmetrical puzzle pieces.

With two different activity styles included, you can easily adapt the set for different ages and skill levels.

What’s Included

This printable symmetry set includes:

  • 10 different symmetrical pattern designs
  • Full-color versions
  • Black-and-white versions
  • Draw-and-complete symmetry cards
  • Symmetry matching puzzle cards

Complete the Symmetrical Patterns

Each pattern card shows part of a design on one side of a line of symmetry, with space for kids to complete the reflected design.

Kids study the existing pattern and recreate the shapes, lines, and details on the opposite side.

The full-color cards add color matching to the challenge, while the black-and-white cards allow kids to add their own colors and creativity.

Symmetry Matching Puzzles

The completed designs can also be used as matching puzzles.

Cut the patterns along the center line and challenge kids to find the two halves that create a complete symmetrical design.

This is an easier introduction to symmetry for younger learners and adds hands-on matching and fine-motor practice.

Math Meets Art

As kids draw, color, and match the patterns, they can practice:

  • Identifying lines of symmetry
  • Understanding reflection
  • Completing patterns
  • Visual discrimination
  • Spatial reasoning
  • Fine-motor skills
  • Careful observation

It’s a simple way to bring geometry and art together in one creative activity.

Use the cards for math centers, early finishers, homeschool math, art and geometry lessons, independent work, or sub plans.
