Teaching the Letter N: Sounds and Recognition Tips
The letter N makes the /n/ sound as in night, nest, and nurse. It’s a nasal sound your child can feel when humming through their nose. Show them how to place their tongue just behind the top teeth.
Formation Tips:
- Uppercase N: Start with a vertical line, draw a diagonal from the top to the bottom, then finish with another vertical.
- Lowercase n: Start with a straight line down, then arch to the right like a small hump.
Use sensory materials like sand, shaving cream, or playdough to trace and form the letter.
