Create an amazing 3D stellated dodecahedron from paper with this printable template!
A stellated dodecahedron is a beautiful geometric form made by extending the faces of a dodecahedron outward into pointed pyramids. The finished model has 12 star-like points, creating an impressive 3D paper sculpture.
This printable template makes it easier to construct your own while exploring geometry, 3D shapes, symmetry, spatial reasoning, and mathematical art.
What You’ll Need
Print 12 copies of the template to create one complete stellated dodecahedron. Cut, fold, and assemble the individual sections, then attach them together to form the finished 3D star.
Students can also decorate the pieces before assembling them. In a classroom or homeschool co-op, give each student a section to design and then combine everyone’s pieces into one collaborative geometric sculpture!
Great For
- Hands-on geometry lessons
- Math art projects
- Exploring 3D geometric forms
- Homeschool math
- Classroom projects
- STEM and STEAM activities
- Collaborative group projects
- Geometric holiday decorations
It’s a beautiful way to take geometry off the page and let kids build and hold a complex mathematical shape.
