With Christmas nearing, I thought it would be fun to put together a list of 12 Days of Christmas gift ideas. I also made a set of printable gift tags for you to use along with your gifts this holiday season.

This gift list could work for your kids, or for a loved one, spouse, friend, significant other, or just someone who needs a little extra love this year. Â You can do this leading up to Christmas, or give them all on Christmas morning.Â
Most of us are familiar with the Christmas Carol The Twelve Days of Christmas. In this song, the true love gives a series of gifts to the singer of the carol. Â The lyrics of this song are repetitive and catchy. They always tend to get stuck in your head! Â Despite it not always being the favorite song of the season, it is memorable and there are many fun things you can do with it!Â
Fun fact: This Christmas carol is first known to have appeared in a British children’s book called Mirth With-out Mischief in 1780.Â
Another fun little tidbit: The gifts in this song are cumulative. Each day’s gifts includes all of the gifts from the previous days as well. This adds up to a total of 364 total gifts over the 12-day period.Â
Often in our culture, we think of the 12 days leading up to Christmas day as the 12 days of Christmas. But, did you know that the 12 Days of Christmas in the song refers to the time period of December 25th through January 6th? Â This is the time from the birth of Christ through Three Kings’ Day or Epiphany, when the three wise men are said to have come.Â
