• Family devotion time
You can also use the printable Easter Story Snack Mix bag topper so each child can take their snack home and share the story with their family.
Ingredients for the Easter Story Snack Mix

For each snack bag you will need:
- 6 pretzel sticks
- 3 red candies or jelly beans
- 2 round crackers
- 5–6 mini marshmallows
- 4 goldfish crackers
- 3 chocolate eggs
You will also need:
- sandwich-sized bags
- the printable bag toppers
- a stapler, tape, or ribbon
The Easter Story Snack Mix (Step-by-Step)
As children add each ingredient to the snack mix, talk about what it represents in the Easter story.

Pretzel Sticks — The Cross
Add six pretzel sticks to the bag. Pretzels remind us of the cross where Jesus died. Jesus gave His life for us because He loves us. Kids can build three crosses.
Scripture: John 19:17–18
Red Candy — Jesus’ Blood
Add a few small red candies. We used jelly beans. The red color reminds us that Jesus shed His blood so our sins could be forgiven.
Scripture: Ephesians 1:7
Round Crackers — The Stone
Add 2-3 round crackers. The crackers represent the large stone that covered Jesus’ tomb.
Scripture: Luke 24:2
Mini Marshmallows — The Burial Cloth
Add five or six mini marshmallows. The white color reminds us of the linen cloths that wrapped Jesus’ body when He was placed in the tomb.
Scripture: John 19:40
Goldfish Crackers — Fishers of Men
Add some goldfish crackers. Fish remind us that Jesus called His followers to become “fishers of men” and share the good news with others.
Scripture: Matthew 4:19
Chocolate Eggs — New Life & The Resurrection
Add a few chocolate eggs to the bag. Eggs are a symbol of new life. At Easter, they remind us of the greatest news of all — Jesus rose from the tomb and is alive again. Just as a new life can come from an egg, the resurrection reminds us that Jesus brings new life and hope to the world.
Scripture: Matthew 28:6
“He is not here; He has risen, just as he said.”
Seal the Bag and Add the Printable Topper

After the snack mix is assembled, seal the bag and attach the Easter Story Snack Mix printable topper. Use a stapler or hole punch it and tie on with a ribbon
The topper lists each symbol so children can remember the story as they eat their snack. It also helps them explain the meaning of Easter when they take it home.
Teaching Tip for Groups
This activity works well when you:
- Set each ingredient in separate bowls
- Tell the story step-by-step
- Have kids add each item as you go
It becomes both a Bible lesson and a fun activity.
Make the Easter Story Memorable
Hands-on learning helps children remember important lessons. By connecting simple snack foods to the story of Easter, kids gain a meaningful reminder of why we celebrate this special holiday.
The next time they see pretzels, crackers, or marshmallows, they may remember the story of Jesus and the hope of Easter.
