Valentine’s Math Fun: Pascal’s Triangle with Hearts

What Is Pascal’s Triangle?

Pascal’s Triangle is a famous mathematical pattern of numbers where each number is the sum of the two numbers directly above it. Named after the French mathematician Blaise Pascal, this triangle actually has origins dating back much earlier in ancient China, India, and the Middle East. It’s an amazing tool for teaching:

• Addition and pattern recognition

• Number relationships

• Triangular numbers, binomial coefficients, and more!

Valentine’s Day Math Activity: Pascal’s Triangle with Hearts

This hands-on math activity turns a traditional number exercise into an eye-catching Valentine’s craft. It’s perfect for elementary-aged kids and homeschool families, especially if you’re looking to incorporate holiday-themed STEAM learning into your curriculum.

What You’ll Need:

• Printed Pascal’s Triangle heart template (download below!)

• Colored pencils, crayons, or markers

• Optional: stickers or glitter to decorate

How to Use the Pascal’s Triangle Heart Activity:

1. Start with a single heart at the top.

2. Each heart in the next row is the sum of the two hearts above it.
