Teaching the Letter M: Sounds and Recognition Tips
The letter M makes the /m/ sound, like in moon, milk, and muffin. It’s a soft, humming sound that children can feel when they place their hand on their throat or lips.
Letter Formation Tips:
- Uppercase M: Straight line down, up at an angle, back down, and up again.
- Lowercase m: Start with a vertical line and add two bumps.
Use hands-on activities like forming M with playdough or tracing it in sand to help reinforce both shape and sound.
