Why an Alphabet Train Works So Well

Kids naturally love building and connecting things—and this activity taps right into that.

As children connect each train car, they’re also building the alphabet in the correct order. It turns abstract learning into something visual, physical, and meaningful.

Pair It With a Favorite Book

This activity pairs perfectly with the classic children’s book Freight Train.

It introduces:

  • Train vocabulary

  • Colors

  • Different train cars

Reading it before or after the activity helps reinforce learning and makes the experience even more memorable.
