If you’re a homeschool parent looking for ideas, Pinterest is one of the best places to find creative, hands-on learning inspiration. From unit studies to art projects, science experiments to printable resources, Pinterest makes planning easier and more fun. In this post, I’m sharing how I use Pinterest to organize, plan, and energize our homeschool—and how you can too!
Why Pinterest is a Game-Changer for Homeschooling
Pinterest is like a visual search engine filled with ideas from educators, bloggers, parents, and creators around the world. What I love most is that it sparks creativity and helps me:
-
Discover new projects, activities, and teaching ideas
-
Find seasonal and holiday-themed resources quickly
-
Save and organize content for easy access later
-
Let my kids explore and choose projects that interest them
-
Get fresh ideas when we hit a slump or need something new
Whether you’re a new homeschooler or a veteran looking to simplify your planning, Pinterest is an incredible tool to have in your toolbox.
How I Organize My Pinterest Boards for Homeschooling
When I first joined Pinterest, I saved everything homeschool-related to a single board. It didn’t take long before that board was overflowing—and I couldn’t find what I had saved! That’s when I started organizing my boards by subject. Here’s how I have them grouped now:
-
Homeschool Ideas (General) – For everything else that doesn’t fit a category
This system makes it quick and easy to pull up ideas when I’m planning a specific subject or want to enrich a lesson with a hands-on project.
Collaborative Pinterest Boards for Homeschool Inspiration
One of my favorite features on Pinterest is collaborative boards—these are group boards where multiple pinners contribute. I’m part of several collaborative boards with other homeschool bloggers, including:
-
Homeschool by Pinterest for Teachers
These group boards are filled with fresh ideas and are a great place to discover new creators and content.
How I Use Pinterest With My Kids
Pinterest isn’t just a planning tool for me—it’s a discovery tool for my kids, too! Sometimes I’ll sit with them and scroll through a specific board or search a topic we’re studying to see what jumps out to them. This encourages them to take ownership of their learning and builds excitement.
Some things we often search for together:
-
New science or art project ideas
-
Seasonal crafts or activities
-
Books and read-aloud ideas
-
Free printables or themed worksheets
Pinterest has truly helped me bring more joy and variety into our homeschool!
Bonus: My Favorite Non-Homeschool Pinterest Board
While homeschooling is my main use for Pinterest, I also use it often for meal planning. Check out my Family Recipes board if you’re looking for some fun, kid-friendly meals to try during the week!
Make Pinterest Work for You
Pinterest is a free and flexible tool that can simplify your homeschool planning and spark creativity when you need a boost. Whether you pin daily or just once a week, having well-organized boards makes it easy to pull from your saved ideas anytime.
Are you using Pinterest to support your homeschool journey? Drop your favorite board link in the comments—I’d love to follow along!

This is great! Thanks!
Do you have any tips for joining collaborative pinboards? I find collaborative boards all the time, but I don’t really know how I can contribute to them.
Usually if you have one that you think fits your blog, you can contact the owner of the board & ask them. Are you on my Blogging homeschoolers one? 🙂
