I know things have been hard, really hard for so many of you. We have struggled, too.

I know how busy all of you are as parents. Many of you are also trying to work from home. Maybe you don’t know how to fit all of these pieces together: distance learning, work, housework, etc.

I understand, believe me! There are ways to make this a lot easier.

I have also heard so many parents say that this experience has been great for their families and that they are considering homeschooling or fully online schools in the future.

What about you? What silver lining have you found from teaching your kids at home? Has this changed the future of your child’s education? If so, keep reading for a great option.

Online Public School with Connections Academy

Online school is a perfect fit for so many families. It offers kids a safe environment without the social and emotional pressures of a regular classroom. Kids can wear what they want and be who they are.

Connections Academy has been around for more than 20 years as a national leader in virtual education for K-12 students. They have online public schools in states across the country with the same standards and guidelines as traditional public schools, as well as an internationally available private school.

Connections Academy’s high quality, accredited schools use award-winning curriculum to engage students in an online learning experience. The program gives children the support they need to learn academically while also developing socially and emotionally from home. Connections Academy prepares them for future success in college, in their career or in life. And because it serves grades K-12, kids can earn a high school diploma, too!

One of the best parts of homeschooling is the time you get together as a family. Your relationships grow and families become closer. Connections Academy’s  online curriculum enables parents to be an active part of their child’s education by giving them the opportunity to be the learning coach, while supportive teachers drive the lessons and curriculum.

The schedule at Connections Academy is flexible. Parents can arrange the daily schedule to fit their student’s needs, and abilities. You don’t have to do any lesson plans, as that is done for you. You do not have to do the grading!

Social Benefits of Homeschool  (Including Online Homeschool)

During this strange time, those of us who were already homeschooling felt so grateful to already be in this position. The school aspect of this pandemic was seamless.

Homeschooled students still dealt with the emotional trauma and the loss of social and extracurricular activities. But I know that having the school stay the same made things much easier on our family.

Like I mentioned, I have heard many people say that this shift to homeschooling has been good for their kids.

I loved this article on CNN: Why some kids are happier right now, and other unexpected effects of quarantine.

They say in the article that some of the great benefits are the ability to have more control over your time. Life has slowed down.

They are seeing more of their parents. Families can be silly together. They can take breaks as needed. There is less anxiety, and kids are learning more independence.

How great is that? Don’t we want these things for our kids for a long time to come?

A recent Pew study found that approximately 70% of teens see anxiety and depression as a major problem among their peers. Here is an amazing thing, only 51% of teenage students attending Connections Academy reported anxiety and depression to be a problem. That is an impressive decrease.

I definitely think that homeschooling and online schools relieve a huge amount of pressure from kids in so many ways. I have watched that in my own kids.

There is less to worry about as a homeschooler, enabling kids to better thrive. In fact, many families have chosen online school because of social and emotional challenges in the traditional classroom. Committed to raising awareness on the importance of youth mental health, Connections Academy’s experts offer tips for improving social and emotional wellbeing. They have even partnered with the National Resilience Institute to share practical ways parents can instill resilience in their own children. We all want resilient kids!

If you are considering online homeschool for your kids this year, I highly recommend looking into the Connections Academy online homeschool program.
