I love Chia seed and have been using it a lot more lately since I learned about the incredible health benefits. I am sure most of you have heard about Chi seed by now, but if not, let me tell you a little about it. I also will be sharing a homemade chia squeeze recipe with you!
This review and giveaway was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Mamma Chia. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.
Chia seeds are called a superfood that have tons of Omega-3s, antioxidants and dietary fibers, are a complete protein, have calcium and magnesium. They are so full of nutrients!! Plus, they are quite filling, and great for an energy boost. They were grown and eaten anciently by the Mayans and the Aztecs and are now becoming more common to the rest of us.  I love adding them into my oatmeal and my smoothies as well as sprinkling them over my cereal to give them added nutrients.Â
I got to try out a new product called Mamma Chia. They sell Chia seed as well as other chia products including the Chia Squeeze and the Chia Seed Drinks. We were sent a box of the Chia Squeeze packs and got to try out all of the different flavors. They are in those little squeeze packs that applesauce and baby food are in, but can be eaten on the go by anyone. I loved them and so did my whole family. I loved that they are such a nutrient dense snack and that they are quite delicious!! They would be great for snacks as well as in any packed lunches. The Mamma Chia flavor variety and combinations were really great, too.
I experimented a little to see if I could make some of my own, too. I have seen lots of different chia seed recipes online and have not tried very many things with them. I have some little zipsicle popsicle bags that I thought would work well for this. I made apple cinnamon chia squeeze snacks. It is so simple and just took a few minutes.
How to make a simple chia squeeze at home:
1/2 c. apple juice
2 Tbsp chia seed
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Mix the ingredients together and let it sit for at least 10 minutes to let the chia seeds swell and absorb the juice. You could do this with any flavor combinations!
