How to Use the Synonym Puzzles

These puzzles are easy to prep and can be used again and again.

To Prepare:

  1. Print the puzzles on cardstock or colored paper for durability and visual sorting.

  2. Cut along the lines to separate the puzzle pieces.

  3. Optional: Laminate the pieces for reuse in literacy centers.

To Play:

  • Mix up the puzzle pieces.

  • Students choose a word and try to find its three matching synonyms to complete the square.

  • They can work individually, with partners, or in small groups.

  • Use the blank templates to challenge students to come up with their own synonyms!
