How to Do Mess-Free Finger Painting
You’ll only need a few basic supplies to get started:
Materials:
-
Gallon-size Ziploc freezer bags (freezer bags are more durable)
-
Washable tempera paint (2–3 colors)
-
Masking tape or painter’s tape

Instructions:
-
Prep the Bag
Add 2–3 squirts of different colored paint into the Ziploc bag. Try using primary colors to explore color mixing! -
Seal It Up
Carefully seal the bag. You can even double seal it or tape the top shut for extra security—especially with curious toddlers. -
Insert the Paper
Slide a white piece of paper into the bag behind the paint, or tape the paper directly to a table or window and tape the bag on top. -
Tape It Down
Secure the bag to a flat surface like a table, floor, or window using masking tape around all sides. -
Let the Fun Begin!
Let kids squish, swirl, and draw in the paint through the bag. They can create shapes, letters, numbers, and colorful designs—all without getting paint on their fingers.

What a great idea Karyn! I can remember when my son was 4 and my daughter was 2 one particular incident where finger paint ended up all over the sofa, wall, bed, books, basically you name it. I thought the kids were asleep during a nap and boy was I ever wrong, LOL. With your idea you can have some finger painting / color mixing fun anywhere, anytime. Thanks for linking up this week to my Enchanted Thursdays Blog Hop!
