How to Make a Fingerprint Heart Family Valentine
Supplies You’ll Need:
-
White paper
-
Pencil
-
Colored ink pads (one per person, if possible)
-
Glue stick
-
Construction paper or cardstock
-
Pen or fine marker for labeling
-
Optional: frame for gifting

Instructions:
-
Draw a Heart
Lightly sketch a large heart in the center of your white paper. -
Assign Ink Colors
Choose a different colored ink pad for each family member. This helps personalize each print! - Add the Fingerprints
Let everyone press their pointer finger into the ink pad and stamp fingerprints inside the heart outline. Fill the entire shape with prints! (Messy toddlers welcome.) -
Let it Dry
Allow the ink to fully dry before moving on. This helps avoid smudges when handling. -
Cut and Mount
Cut out the heart carefully, then glue it onto a colorful piece of cardstock or construction paper to make it pop. -
Label It
Write each family member’s name next to their fingerprint color. You can also add a title like “Love Grows Here” or “Our Fingerprint Heart – Valentine’s Day [Year]”. -
Optional: Frame it as a special gift for a parent or grandparent!

My toddler did NOT want my help, so it got a little messy! 🙂

I added some of my own fingerprints to this one, too!

Tips from Experience
-
Toddlers might go rogue — and that’s okay! Their little prints make it even more precious.
-
You can reuse this idea for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or Grandparents Day with different titles.
-
Add a date to the back for a future “aww” moment.

We are planning on framing this for him. He loves to hang things from the kids in his office since he is there so much of the day!
