A fun get to know you activity to do with young kids is to do an All About Me Book with them! It’s also fun for parents to have a record their children at these adorable stages in life.

See also my All About Me in Numbers book for kids!

This year we are doing some cool things to record my kids lives. We are doing daily journaling to remember their lives at this stage. To do this I found some really fun journaling books for kids to use to make it easier on us. They have writing prompts and ideas of what to record.

I also created a free All About Me Book that you can print and use with your little ones. When they grow up they will have some special things for them to remember about their younger selves.

Journaling Books for Kids

I got my two older kids the Q & A a Day Book for Kids. It is a daily journal with questions for kids to write about each day of the year for 3 years.

It is such a fun book with all kinds of questions for kids to answer including things like: What do you think about when you wake up in the morning? What games do you like to play? What makes you laugh?

The book is set up with a question for every day of the year, but under each question is a space to answer it three years in a row. What I love about this is it will be a fun way to look back on the things they said when they were younger and see how they have changed through the years.

My kids enjoy answering their questions and comparing with each other what they have written. I love that it gets them writing and thinking in a different way.

For my Preschooler I got My Book About Me by Me, Myself & Dr. Seuss. This book is so cute and so funny! It’s just what I would expect from a Dr. Seuss book.

This book is made to be filled out about your child. It asks all kinds of fun questions about them about hair and eye colors, hobbies, the number of forks in their house, and their longest walk. It also has some fun pages to get autographs of people including aunts, uncles, mailman, and police men. My Book About Me is an awesome way to record all about your child’s life, and you will all have fun while doing it!

I also made a FREE printable About Me Book for you to use with your little ones. My little boy is three this year and we will be doing preschool with him. He wants to be a part of everything we do for school. He is excited to be doing his own things this year.

My older kids have done these when they were young and I love looking back on them now. They love them, too. This book I made asks all different questions about their lives and has spaces for them to draw pictures, too. To go along with this theme, it asks what they want to be when they grow up, too!

We love My Book about Me! I actually had a copy when I was a kid so I was sure to get one for my son and daughter when they were around 6. They’ve had a great time filling in all the fun pages — and so much counting is involved so it doubles as learning math too.

The Q&A a day book looks great. I’ll keep that book in mind for next year (Grade 2).

Thanks for making this printable book. I have a passel of new children who arrived via the foster care system, and they need badly to be recognized for who they are and to start creating a history for themselves. This is going to be something they will be quite proud of. 🙂
