I thought that we would take advantage of all of the candy today in our learning. My kids absolutely L.O.V.E.D. this.
First, we sorted our candy into chocolates and fruities. Then we weighed each pile to see which weighed more. The chocolates won.
Then we laid the piles out into 2 straight lines to see which was longer. We measured each row and wrote down the number of inches of each.
The next activity was to count each row, see which had the greater number and find the difference between the two.
After playing around with all of the candies we opened a few and played with them individually. We cut up Reeses Peanut Butter cups to practice fractions. They had to share 2/8 with me. Could they figure that out? 🙂
Then we dumped out all the skittles packs and graphed the number of each color. First- we each made a guess about which color would have the most. We were all wrong… green surprised us all!
My kids were literally begging for more math. How do you like that?
