Florida Weather Science Connection
Florida experiences powerful tropical storms and hurricanes because it is surrounded by warm ocean water. These storms form over the Atlantic Ocean or Gulf of Mexico and can bring heavy rain and strong winds.
Kids can explore the science behind storms with this Hurricane Science Project, where you can learn how hurricanes form and why warm ocean water fuels these powerful storms.
