Christmas books are something I love to collect. We have a Christmas tradition of reading a book each day throughout the month of December, so I am always happy to add to our Christmas book collection.  We were lucky to have the chance to review a fun new one called Itsy Bitsy Christmas.

Itsy Bitsy Christmas was written by Max Lucado and illustrated by Bruno Merz. It is a darling new children’s picture book about the first Christmas night. Max Lucado has long been one of our favorite authors and this book was just as great as so many of his other stories. The story is told from the perspective of two little mice. They hear that The King is coming to Bethlehem. This King is special and comes for everyone, big and small. They are so small that they wonder if He came for them, too. The two little mice are determined to find Him and scurry all around town looking. The other animals that they meet don’t believe them and tell them they are not important enough.  After spending the entire day looking, they are discouraged and head home to their stable. There they find the King who was born that night in their stable! The animals there realize that he came for each one of them, too. This sweet story sends such a great message to kids. It shows that they are important to God no matter how small they may be.  We all may feel small and unimportant in this world, but to God we all matter!

We loved reading this book together as a family. My kids have asked to read it several more times. My little 6-year-old daughter says it is the best Christmas book ever!  She loved  how they believed the donkey and knew he was telling the truth. She loved that they tried to get all of their friends to believe and nobody would listen to them, but they still believed. It is kinda like in real life how sometimes people don’t believe in Jesus.

I love the sweet illustrations in the book. The animal pictures are just darling and the little mice have such a darling character. It is a definitely a good Christmas book to invest in!

Itsy Bitsy Christmas is hardcover, 32 pages and is selling for $11.24. It is recommended for kids ages 2-7.

There are also some cute little free coloring sheets to go along with the story for your little kids.
