Healthy Snacks for Kids

My kids are always asking for snacks, so I try to keep healthy snacking options around my house.  Since we homeschool, we have to have lots of snacks around!  I know that when kids come home from school they are always hungry, too.  So today, I have compiled some of our favorite healthy snack options.  I also used to write a cooking blog, so most of these will be linked to the recipes there.

Healthy Snacks for Kids:

Easy healthy store-bought snacks to keep on hand:
Nuts
Veggie sticks
Hummus dip
Dried Fruit
Fruit Leather
Veggie Chips or Baked chips
Granola Bars
Fresh fruit
Cheese Sticks
Whole Grain Crackers
Frozen grapes
Some simple healthy snack recipes that we enjoy:
Fruit Juice Gelatin
Peanut Butter Energy Balls
Pizza Quesadillas
Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Chips
Baked Kale Chips
Cocoa Roasted Almonds
Banana Nutella “Ice Cream”
Creamy Peanut Butter Fruit Dip
Raw Chocolate Almond Cookie Bites

Dairy-Free Coconut Chocolate Mousse

Frozen Yogurt Bites:

My kids LOVE these! Just fill some little ice cube trays with your favorite yogurt flavors and freeze them.  Once they are frozen I store them in ziploc bags and the kids can eat them anytime.  If you don’t have little shaped ice cube trays, drop spoonfuls of yogurt onto a cookie sheet and freeze them that way.

A way to make simple snacks more fun is by serving them in interesting containers.  My kids favorite is the mini muffin tin.  We fill it up with their favorite snacks and they think it is so exciting!

Love your healthy snack collection for back-to-school! If you have time, i’d love for you to link this up and any other homeschooling mommy resources on my weekly hop, Mommy Solutions. We are new to homeschooling and I can’t wait to learn more from blogs like yours.

Great recipes. We have come up with some great healthy homemade snacks so it’s always great to find new ideas! We try to stay away from pre-made boxed food. Thanks, Lisa
