Today I want to tell you all about CTC Math, an online math program that’s great for homeschoolers.
Math. It is kind of a bad word in my mind. I hated math my whole life and I had the fear of passing that hatred on to my kids. (Maybe you have noticed the amount of FUN math things we do in our house?)
We have used a lot of different homeschool math curriculum choice through our years of homeschooling. I think I have finally found the one I will use the rest of our lives.
We started using CTC Math in the Spring and have been so incredibly pleased with it that I am in awe of how well it is going.
This is a sponsored post. I was given a free year of CTC for our family and have been compensated for my time in writing this post, however all opinions are my own.
What is CTC Math?
CTC Math is an online homeschool math program for grades K-12. It can also be used for extra review if you are not homeschooling.
CTC Math is taught by world-renowned Australian math teacher Pat Murray. Pat does video lessons that teach each concept in a step-by-step way. Once the video is complete, the kids answer questions to test their knowledge of what they learned.
The website has more that 1400 different video lessons. Each video lasts 4-10 minutes, and they are short enough that kids don’t get distracted or lose interest.
You can also print a one-page summary of the lesson for kids to review. The biggest question I have been asked about CTC is if there is enough review. I definitely feel like it covers a top in enough depth that there is enough review for kids to grasp a concept. Also, lessons can be re-done as needed.
Within each child’s profile, they have a list of lesson categories. They click on the topic they want or need to accomplish and get to work! They can choose to go up or down a level as needed without any trouble. So, if your child completes the grade they are in, they can just start on the next one without any work on your end.
While doing their CTC math lessons, kids get immediate feedback if something is right or wrong. I think this is great to help them know if they are understanding it. You, as a parent, set the percentage you want your kids to get to complete a lesson topic. I set ours to 80% and if they get lower than that they have to do it over again to get credit for completing it.
Kids get certificates for completing topics and lessons. There are platinum, gold, silver and bronze medals based on how well they do on the lessons. The medals are printable if you want, but they also remain in their account for them to see. It’s a great motivation for them!
With CTC math, parents get constant feedback on what their kids are doing and it is so well done! You can choose to have a weekly report of what they have done and the scores they have gotten emailed to you.
All of that information is in the parent dashboard, too. I love the parent dashboard, it is probably my favorite part of all! In the CTC Math dashboard, I see all that they have done, their scores, and awards that they received.
I can also assign them tasks. If you want them to do certain lessons, you assign a day to do them and a due date that they need to be finished by. I love this feature because then I can guide them to the lessons they need to be doing so they are not just randomly skipping around. You can also switch to student view through the parent dashboard and view any of the lessons in any level.
What I Love About CTC Math:
I LOVE the simplicity of CTC Math. It is easy to use and we do not need any extra materials. (No discs, no workbooks, textbooks, etc)
My kids no longer cry about doing their math lessons!
CTC Math provides a world renown teacher for my kids!
The video lessons are awesome! SEEING and HEARING it taught always helps to learn a concept.
I love the short length of the lessons. They feel they accomplish something quickly!
The price is great! I can get 1 year of math curriculum for my entire family for less than I was paying previously.
