I have a fun summer math activity for you today. This Flower Counting Activity can be used in a variety of ways to help kids work on counting, number recognition and even addition!  Plus, it’s just plain adorable, isn’t it? This would be great for a spring or summer themed day.

In the summer, we like to keep up our learning a little with a few basic learning activities each day. We do this in the morning before my kids run off to play with neighbors.  Math and reading skills are our main focus. I don’t want them to lose the things they have learned by taking a few months off entirely.

If you are looking for some new math ideas, this is a great counting activity for your little ones!

What’s Included in the Flower Counting Activity?

flower counting activity- math game

This file is 11 pages long. It includes number cards, flower parts- stem, leaves, petals and the flower center.

This counting activity covers the numbers 1-12.  There are three styles of cards included in the set: cards with both petals and  leaves, individual petal cards, and individual leaf cards.

How To Use the Flower Counting Activity:

Print out the pieces and cut them all apart.

There are three different ways to play and learn with them:

Option 1: Use the cards that have both leaf and petals on them. Read the card and add that many of each to the stem.

Option 2: Use the separated cards and pick one petal card and one leaf card. Add that many to the stem.

Option 3: Use craft pompoms instead of the paper petals and leaves along with either set of cards to add the petals and leaves to the stem.

Take it to the next level by adding in addition- How many petals and leaves are there combined?
