Make a fun math center with these Winter Geoboard Pattern Cards! A geoboard is a great math tool that helps kids learn beginning geometry concepts.  It is a physical board with nails or pegs evenly spaced around the board. They were originally made of wood and nails, but now you can buy plastic ones. See how we made our own geoboard. You use rubber bands to create shapes and patterns on the board.
How to Use a Geoboard for Your Math Lessons
- Teach basic or more advanced shapes with a geoboard
- Use it to teach area and perimeter or mathematical arrays
- Teach patterns and counting
- Create and measure different angles
Don’t have a geoboard yet? Â Here is the one we have.
What’s Included in the Winter Geoboard Pattern Cards
This Winter Geoboard Pattern Card set includes 16 different cards with the following winter themed-images:
- Winter Hat
- Window
- Evergreen Tree
- Christmas Tree
- Star
- Stove
- Simple Snowflake
- Complex Snowflake
- Ice Skate
- Snow Shovel
- Quilt
- Present
- Mitten
- Soup
- Chopping Wood
- Hot Cocoa
Each card includes the name of the image, the picture of the image to create on the geoboard, a place to write/trace the word, and then two questions: How many rubber bands did you use, and how many squares does your design cover. This helps kids get deeper into the math of the geoboard. You can take it a step further with older kids and talk about the area and perimeter that is covered by the designs.
These Winter Geoboard cards are great for any winter theme, from Late November through February!
