Looking for a fun Christmas party game for kids, families, or a classroom holiday party?
The Christmas Magnet Bell Game is always a hit! It’s quick to set up, exciting to play, and sneaks in a little science and math learning while everyone has fun. Kids love the challenge, and adults can’t resist jumping in, too.
This simple Christmas game teaches magnetism, color identification, counting, and a bit of strategic thinking — making it perfect for STEM-loving families.
Let me show you how it works!

What You Need to Play
-
Magnet wands (any strong magnets will work, but wands make it easier)
-
Colored jingle bells – make sure each color has the same number Here is another multicolored pack.
-
A flat surface for spreading out the bells
We used Christmas-colored bells (red, green, gold), which allowed for three players. If you want more players, simply add additional bell colors or combine multiple sets so more kids can collect the same color.
How to Play the Christmas Magnet Bell Game
1. Assign Each Player a Bell Color
Each player gets a color of jingle bell to collect. If your magnet wands match your bell colors, even better — it’s very visual and kid-friendly.
2. Take Turns Collecting Bells
Players take turns using the magnet wand to pick up ONLY their assigned color.
If they accidentally attract the wrong color, they must put all bells collected that turn back into the pile.
Bells collected during previous turns stay safely in the player’s pile.
3. Choose Your Strategy
Players can stop at any time on their turn and keep the bells they’ve collected.
But the longer they try to collect “just one more,” the more likely they’ll pick up the wrong color. It’s a fun risk–reward moment that kids love!

How to Win the Magnet Bell Game
The winner is the first player to collect all bells of their color.
Want to make it more exciting? Turn it into a Minute to Win It Christmas Game:
-
Set a 1-minute timer
-
See who can collect ALL of their color before time runs out!
Fast, frantic, and festive.

Make It a Christmas Science Lesson
This game is also a perfect opportunity to teach kids about magnetism!
Try asking:
-
Why do some bells stick to the magnet and others don’t?
-
How close does the magnet need to be to pull a bell?
-
Can you make the bells move without touching them?
-
Why might a larger bell be harder or easier to lift?
It’s hands-on, playful STEM learning disguised as holiday fun.
You can pair this with other magnet activities for a full Christmas science lesson. See more fun magnet learning ideas here.

Oh, I love it! I actually got magnets for the kids years ago and we never used them. (Oops! Forgot about them until now…) I just need to pick up some jingle bells.
Yeah! We love these magnets. There are lots of fun things you can do with them!
We love these magnets too. This game is sure to be a hit!
Such a fun way to learn honesty and sportsmanship as well!
Plan on trying the Christmas bell game tomorrow. Thank you for the idea.
