Knowledge Quest recently released volume 3 of A Child’s Geography, Explore the Classical World by Terri Johnson. I am thrilled to be on the blog team to review it and share it with all of you. It sells for $34.95 for the paperback or $24.95 for the e-book and is intended for kids in grades 1-6. There are 15 chapters and 224 pages.

We discovered this wonderful geography curriculum last year and I have been very impressed with it. We have used the first volume and have skipped ahead to the third so we can try it out for this review. This volume has a new author, but we love it just as much as the other one we have used!
If you have heard the term “living books” this curriculum definitely falls into that category. It is full of fun interesting information that excited your kids about the topics covered. It is written in a conversational style helping your kids to stop and think about what they are learning with questions and journal prompts throughout the book. I also loved that at the end of each chapter it tells you exactly what happened on a timeline of events. This could help you to easily construct your own timeline to correspond with the book.

The book also comes with a CD-Rom disc with maps, activities and projects to correspond with each chapter, an e-book version of the book, prayer ideas for each country, recipes, timelines, a travel log for each chapter (listing the places visited), and a list of books for extra reading for each chapter. There are some great activities included in all of this. It really helps you to make this into a full curriculum by expanding it to be as much or as little as your family wants/needs.

My son is completely in love with Greek Mythology and was so excited to be learning about this place and time in history. I have been using the book with my 1st & 3rd graders and it has been just right for them. This isn’t just a geography book, though. It goes through the history of each location as well as sharing more current information. So you are getting a wonderful combination of history and geography through these books! The book is in full color with amazing pictures of all of the places you learn about making you wish you really could go and visit.
The countries covered in volume 3 are: Greece, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy & Malta. Italy & Greece each get extra coverage with a few chapters covering those countries. While we have not yet gotten all of the way through, we have loved all that we have read and done with the book so far!!
I feel so lucky to be able to host a wonderful giveaway here as well. I get to give away one digital copy of the book here.  Enter the giveaway tools form below for a chance to win the e-book copy. But make sure to keep reading for even more excitement!!
