Printable Astronaut Easy Reader Book

I love creating little printable books for beginning readers! They’re just the right size for young children to hold, read, and enjoy on their own.

My kindergarten-aged daughter always loved these mini books. Every time I made a new one, she asked if she could keep it. She even had a little collection tucked away in her school desk drawer. I loved seeing her so excited about having books of her own!

This Astronaut Easy Reader is part of that same collection, along with my Garden Easy Reader and Paleontology Easy Reader.

The astronaut book introduces children to the topic of astronauts through simple text and colorful pages. It’s a fun way to connect early literacy with science and space exploration.

What’s Included in the Astronaut Mini Book?

This printable astronaut reader includes 8 pages total:

  • One cover page
  • Seven pages of reading
  • Full-color illustrations
  • A mini-book format that prints four book pages per sheet

The book is available in full color only. There is not a black-and-white version.

Once printed, you can cut and assemble the pages into a little book that children can keep and read again and again.

When I first made this book, my 9-year-old son recorded a video of himself reading it!

It’s a fun way to preview the book and see what the finished reader looks like.

Ways to Use This Astronaut Easy Reader

There are several ways to incorporate this printable space book into your lessons.

1. Space-Themed Reading Center

Add the astronaut mini book to a classroom literacy center during a space or astronomy unit. Children can read it independently, with a partner, or with help from a teacher.

2. Beginning Reading Practice

Use the book for repeated reading practice. Read it together first, then invite children to try reading it again on their own.

Short books like this can help beginning readers build confidence as they become more comfortable with familiar words and sentences.

3. Learn About Astronauts

Pair the reader with a simple discussion about astronauts and space exploration.

Ask children questions such as:

  • What is an astronaut?
  • Where do astronauts travel?
  • What do you think it would be like to live in space?
  • What would you want to learn if you were an astronaut?

You could also look at photographs of real astronauts or watch a short video about life aboard the International Space Station.

4. Make a Collection of Easy Reader Books

One of my favorite things about printable mini books is that children can build their own little libraries.

Print several books on different topics and let children keep them in a special box or basket. They can return to their favorites whenever they want to practice reading.

5. Combine Reading with Space Activities

After reading the book, extend the learning with a space-themed science experiment, counting game, or art project.

Combining reading with hands-on activities helps children make connections between what they’re reading and what they’re learning.
