It’s almost time for Halloween!  I am excited to share with you today these free printable Halloween Scavenger Hunt Clues! This would be great for a Halloween party game or just for a rainy day activity in October.

Halloween Scavenger Hunt Clues

My kids love doing scavenger hunts. We have done so many over the years. Sometimes the hardest part of a scavenger hunt is just coming up with the clues.  So, I have these ones all done for you!  This one is Halloween themed, so it is a great activity to get you into the Halloween spirit!

This fun scavenger hunt is a fun activity for Halloween week and is great for younger kids, but older kids will have fun joining in, too. I wrote 16 clue cards that can be used inside and outside the house. I also included 8 blank cards that you can use to write your own clues if you want to personalize them more, or make the hunt a little longer.

The clues I wrote are meant to be used in your home and in your yard.  It is more of an indoor scavenger hunt around the house, but there are a few clues that will lead them outside, too. The different clues will lead kids to the the fruit bowl/ drawer, shower or bath tub, the mailbox, the front door, under your pumpkins, in a tree, in their shoes, in the pantry, behind the TV, under a chair or couch, on a bike, under their pillow, under a kleenex box, and to their closet.

How to Do the Halloween Scavenger Hunt

Set this fun Halloween activity up as a fun surprise for the whole family, or for your kids to do with their best friends from the neighborhood.

For our scavenger hunt, we used these cute pumpkins that are kind of like Easter eggs. (Optional, but so fun and can be used again for other things!)  I cut up the clues and put them inside the pumpkins.  Next, I hid them around in different locations according to the clues. Give kids the first clue and send them on their way to find the next clue, and so on.

Halloween Scavenger Hunt Prize Ideas:

At the end of the scavenger hunt you can include a fun final surprise or treat for kids with the last clue. The prize options are endless. You can do non-candy treats like spider rings, glow sticks, stickers, pencils, or bouncy balls. You could have homemade sweet treats, a treat bag, or full-size candy bars. You could even award kids with an activity like a trip to the pumpkin patch as a final prize. Or, use this in advance of Halloween and have the prize be your kids’ halloween costumes!

Benefits of this Fun Free Halloween Scavenger Hunt:

  • Scavenger hunts can be a great way to teach problem-solving skills!  I wrote the clues in rhyming riddle format. This forces kids to think about and solve the clue.
  • Scavenger hunts get kids moving and active. They are running about excitedly through the house or yard as they solve their clues.
  • Halloween Scavenger hunts are a fun way to keep kids busy leading up to Halloween night. You know that period of time when you are waiting to head out trick-or-treating?
  • Get the neighborhood kids involved and host a neighborhood Halloween scavenger hunt. This will build friendships!
  • It’s an adventure and kids will have so much fun!
