This Halloween Would You Rather printable includes 30 question cards with two funny choices on each one.
You’ll find questions about Halloween candy, costumes, pumpkins, witches, ghosts, monsters, and all sorts of ridiculous situations. Some questions are easy to answer. Others might have everyone arguing about which choice is worse!
The cards are designed to be simple to print and easy to use. You can play with just two people or a whole classroom full of kids.
How to Play Halloween Would You Rather
If you’ve never played Would You Rather, the rules couldn’t be easier. Each card asks players to choose between two different options. The fun comes from deciding which one you’d rather do—and explaining why!
Here’s how to play:
-
Print and cut apart the Halloween Would You Rather cards.
-
Put the cards in a bowl, basket, or Halloween bucket.
-
Have someone choose a card and read the question aloud.
-
Everyone picks which option they would rather choose.
-
Take turns explaining your answers!
There are no right or wrong answers. In fact, some of the funniest moments happen when kids try to convince everyone else that their choice is the better one.
You can play as a group, take turns around the table, or let one person answer each question.
Tip: Ask kids to explain their choices instead of just picking an answer. You’ll get some hilarious responses, and it’s a simple way to encourage conversation and reasoning.
Funny Halloween Would You Rather Questions
Need a few examples? Here are some of the silly questions you might find in a Halloween Would You Rather game:
-
Would you rather fly on a broomstick or ride a dragon?
-
Would you rather eat worm spaghetti or eyeball soup?
-
Would you rather have a pumpkin face or candy corn teeth?
-
Would you rather dance with skeletons or sing with ghosts?
-
Would you rather live in a haunted castle or a giant pumpkin?
Kids can come up with surprisingly creative reasons for their choices.
Would flying on a broomstick be easier than riding a dragon? Would a giant pumpkin make a comfortable house? And what exactly would worm spaghetti taste like?
There’s plenty to talk about!
Halloween Would You Rather for Classroom Parties
This is one of those Halloween classroom games that works well even when you don’t have much time to prepare. You don’t need any special supplies, and everyone can participate at the same time.
Here are a few ways to use the questions in your classroom.
Move to Choose
This is my favorite way to turn Would You Rather into an active group game! Designate one side of the classroom for the first choice and the other side for the second. Read a question aloud and have students move to the side that represents their answer. Once everyone has chosen, invite a few students to explain their decisions.
It’s a fun way to get kids moving during a Halloween celebration!
Halloween Morning Meeting
Choose a question to start the day. Let students share their answers with a partner or take turns explaining their choices to the class. It’s a quick way to get everyone talking and laughing.
Halloween Writing Prompts
Want to sneak a little writing practice into the fun? Have students choose a Would You Rather question and write a few sentences explaining their answer.
Encourage them to give at least two reasons for their choice. Older students can write a full persuasive paragraph or try to convince a classmate to change their mind.
Small-Group Party Game
Set the cards out at a Halloween party station and let students take turns reading and answering the questions. This works especially well if you’re rotating through several classroom Halloween activities.
More Ways to Play Halloween Would You Rather
You can use these same printable cards in several different ways.
- Family game night: Go around the table and have everyone answer the same question. It’s especially funny when family members disagree!
- Halloween party icebreaker: Have guests answer a few questions while everyone is arriving. It’s a fun way to get conversations started.
- Partner challenge: Have kids predict what their partner would choose before revealing their own answers. How well do they know each other?
- Create your own questions: Challenge kids to come up with their own Halloween Would You Rather questions. Can they invent a choice that’s funny but genuinely difficult to answer?
You can even use the questions during a Halloween-themed lunch or as a quick brain break when everyone needs a little fun.
Why Would You Rather Games Are Great for Kids
I love games that get kids thinking and talking without making it feel like a lesson. Would You Rather is a perfect example.
As kids choose between two options, they’re practicing several useful skills:
-
Decision-making: Choosing between two possibilities.
-
Critical thinking: Considering the advantages and disadvantages of each choice.
-
Speaking and listening: Explaining their opinions and hearing different perspectives.
-
Creative thinking: Imagining silly or impossible situations.
-
Persuasive writing: Giving reasons to support their answers.
And because the questions are funny and low-pressure, even reluctant speakers may feel more comfortable joining the conversation.
It’s a simple game with plenty of learning tucked inside the laughter.
