Need an easy way to get kids talking and laughing? Try a round of Would You Rather!

My kids helped me come up with these funny Would You Rather questions for kids, and we had plenty of laughs creating them. Some choices are ridiculous, some are surprisingly difficult, and some will probably lead to a lot more discussion than you expected!

I’ve turned 54 of our favorite questions into printable cards so you can pull them out anytime you need a quick family game, classroom conversation starter, road trip activity, or boredom buster.

How to Play Would You Rather

The rules couldn’t be simpler.

Give someone two choices and make them pick one. No choosing both and no inventing a secret third option!

For example:

Would you rather get sunburned all over your body or have the hiccups for a week straight?

Neither sounds particularly appealing—which is exactly what makes the question fun.

Or try:

Would you rather be a kid for the rest of your life or set a record as the oldest person in the world?

And then there are those impossible choices:

Would you rather have a never-ending supply of pizza or a never-ending supply of root beer?

My kids had a particularly hard time with that one!

The best part isn’t necessarily the answer. Ask everyone to explain why they made their choice. That’s when the conversations get really entertaining.

54 Funny Would You Rather Questions for Kids

This printable set includes 54 different Would You Rather question cards, with six cards on each page.

The questions cover all kinds of silly situations and impossible choices. Kids might have to decide between strange foods, animals, amazing accomplishments, unusual ways to brush their teeth, or things they wish they could have forever.

Some choices are completely ridiculous. Others make you stop and think for a minute.

And everyone has an opinion!

Would You Rather Questions Get Kids Talking

These silly questions are fun, but there’s some sneaky learning happening, too.

When kids choose between two options and explain their reasoning, they’re practicing:

  • Decision-making
  • Comparing choices
  • Verbal communication
  • Reasoning
  • Listening to other perspectives
  • Taking turns in conversation

You can even require players to give a reason for every answer:

“I’d rather _____ because _____.”

Suddenly a silly game becomes an easy way to practice speaking and explaining your thinking.

Ways to Use Would You Rather Cards

Keep a set handy because these work in so many situations.

Try them for:

  • Family game night
  • Dinner table conversations
  • Classroom morning meetings
  • Brain breaks
  • Icebreakers
  • Road trips
  • Waiting rooms
  • Parties
  • Youth groups
  • Homeschool group activities
  • Indoor recess
  • Early finishers
  • Bored kids who insist there is absolutely nothing to do

You can also put the cards in a jar and let kids draw one whenever you need a quick conversation starter.

Turn It Into a Movement Game

For a group, designate one side of the room for each answer.

Read a Would You Rather question aloud and have everyone move to the side that represents their choice.

Once everyone has chosen, ask a few kids from each side to explain their reasoning.

It’s an easy way to turn the cards into a quick movement break and group discussion activity.
