Have you ever wondered how to make 3D letters? You can make the alphabet come alive for your kids with these printable 3-d alphabet templates! I came across this font that I used, called Punch-Out Font, and thought it would be such a fun project to do with my kids! They really have loved making them with me.
How to Make 3D Letters
These letters are cool. You just print, color, cut and fold to make them into three-dimensional letters.
You will need some tape or glue to secure them. Rubber cement works well. If you color them with crayons, scotch tape does not like to stick! 🙂 We learned that lesson. Double sided tape would work well.
If you want to eliminate the coloring step, then print on some fun colored paper! But, as you can see, my kids really enjoyed coloring the letters. We did it on regular printer paper, but I think card stock would hold up much better.
To build the 3D alphabet letters, you cut out the entire outline of the letter first.
Next you will cut on all of the solid lines that are on the inside of the letter, too. Do not cut the dashed lines. These are for folding.
The striped section is the tab part that folds under and is glued or taped inside to hold them together. The taping is the trickiest part and your kids will definitely need help with it.
