Thanksgiving activities for preschool are some of my favorite! Kids love learning about this holiday and you can just have a ton of fun with them.  When I was a preschool teacher, I always loved Thanksgiving week at school. We would do a little feast and do all things focused around the holiday. This little counting activity is a great way to incorporate some math into your Thanksgiving themed lessons.

This fun little printable activity has 11 different turkeys. Each turkey has a number from 1-10 on it with one blank.  The end of the the feathers have black dots on them for each number.

Also included is a sheet with all of the numbered turkeys on one page. This saves paper and copying and can be used as a worksheet in a class setting or at home, too!

We colored the turkeys first, coloring the number of feathers matching up with each one. We also used little snacks for counting our turkey feathers. We tried out dried cranberries and cheerios. Any small little snack would work well. If you don’t want to use food, you could also use little buttons, erasers, or any small object.

These little turkey counting cards can also be used to color instead of counting with objects. We tried it out both ways.  My daughter liked coloring and my son preferred just counting.

We paired it with our of our favorite Thanksgiving books, The Thanksgiving Story by Alice Dalgliesh. It’s an older book, published in 1954.
